Frankie and the Heartbeats was a group of local session musicians who played on many recording projects at various recording studios in the Bay Area in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s. Founded by childhood friends Vance Thom Chan and Frankie Piranha, the band’s repertoire ranged from R&B to rock, country, world beat and old-school pop ballads. Shortly after recording their own album, “Shoot The Moon” in 1981, the band broke up when Frankie Piranha disappeared under mysterious circumstances.
